life as we know it...

I love fall. The smell of cinnamon and apples, pumpkins, the leaves, the clothes, boots (yahoo! I finally got a pair) Summer used to be a time of relaxation. School was out, I didn't have to wake up until noon. Erm..I mean until I was so hungry that I had to go eat enormous amounts of breakfast foods. And I had no schedule, whatsoever.

Fastforward a few years and I'm married to a full time youth pastor and I have a baby on my hip. Gone are the days of no schedules. Summer is jam packed with camps, youth activities, VBS, and dare I say we even try to squeeze in a week of "vacation"!? By the time mid-August rolls around I find myself craving routine and organization. So in steps

Just a few ramblings

Yesterday, we were busy out running around. Today has been a busy day at home. I've had lots of straightening to do and today I FINALLY got registered for my classes. I'm pretty excited about classes starting... I should go back and read this when I start complaining, huh? I love those days when I feel like everything is under control and organized. Too bad it doesn't always stay like that for long.

I also have some GREAT news! Last night, Lucy slept for 7 straight hours!! I have not slept 7 straight hours since she was born. It was wonderful! I woke up and realized I felt more awake than usual ( usually it's all I can do to stay awake while she eats in the middle of the night). I checked the clock and it was after 6! I was SO shocked and proud of my little girl. Lucy has never been a (consistent) great sleeper and hopefully this is the turning of a new page. I would love to get that kind of sleep every night. Did I mention that it was wonderful! Ha!

We've already had supper tonight. I cooked fish and fries. It was a nice, welcomed change. I've never really liked fish but about a week ago we ate at Thom's parents and I REALLY liked it. We bought some yesterday when we were grocery shopping. I plan on doing the dishes and then relaxing with my little sweetie. Thom has a deacon's meeting tonight so we may have A LOT of mommy/daughter time (: I thought about taking a girls trip to Kohl's to pick out Lucy a few new outfits, but I think I'll save that as a post checkup/shots treat on Thursday. I ordered Lucy some new headbands last night and I can't wait for them to come in! I bought some crochet ones. I thought they would be cute for spring/summer.

On a completely different note....

Last night when we went to Walmart I got the Conair 2/1 straightener/curler. I LOVE IT! Since my hair is already a bit wavy I just let it air dry and then picked a few strands to touch up with the curler. It is SO much easier and looks better than curling your hair with a regular curling iron. I'm happy with my purchase and HIGHLY recommend it! THANKS mom and dad for the b-day present (:

That's all I have for now! Have a good evening :)

OH! Of course I need to post a picture of my little sweetie! Here she is before our outing to Walmart last night...I thought she looked so cute

Our summer has been crazy. Between camps, VBS and visits to here and there, we haven't been home very much. Today was our first day getting back into the swing of things.

This morning after breakfast, Lucy and I headed out to the park in our subdivision. We played on the slides and swings. We got inside the little car and pretended to drive. She was just perfect. She loves for me to climb around on the playset with her, and one time she went down the curvy slide first. When I slid down after her, she had her hands out, waiting for me at the bottom saying, "careful, careful" Except the way she says it, it sounds like "tearpull, tearpull". She tickles me so much. She has the biggest personality and we see more of it each day.

We pretended to be airplanes and birds, and we walked back home. I cooked ramen noodles and green beans for lunch (we desperately needed some groceries) and Lucy ate so well. After she ate, we cuddled in a chair and read a couple books. She really loves "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" right now. We finished up with reading from her little Bible and she fell asleep while I was reading to her.

I laid her down in her bed and was able to put up several loads of laundry and get our room all cleaned up.

I often get bored with routine but today, I was so thankful for the extra time with my sweet girl (:
